Lengua

Lengua (b. 1994) is a photographer born in Tenente, Canary Islands, and living in Berlin, Germany. Working in the fields of portraiture and fashion photography, Lengua’s work has been published in The Gagosian Quarterly, The Face magazine, Re-Edition, and Autre Magazine, among other titles. Creatively, he was brought up in New York under the watch of fashion designer Shayne Oliver as part of an international underground culture. At the heart of Lengua’s artistic practice lies a profound desire to challenge conventional perspectives on nature, utilizing photography as a tool for speculation and exploration. Lengua is currently immersed in a significant project, his first monograph, Photophobia (2024). The project’s scope is ambitious and revolves around exploring the dynamic relationship between capitalism and mysticism while examining the impact of the Anthropocene on the youth worldwide. Lengua participated in the group exhibition Indoctrination: Multivalent Gestures, curated by Dahir Hussein, Fotogalleriet's first Curatorial Fellow, spring 2024.
