FUTURES

In 2022, Fotogalleriet joined FUTURES, the European Photography Platform that brings together the international photography community to support and nurture the professional development of emerging artists worldwide.

FUTURES is a growing network of photography organizations that fosters new and dynamic ways of strengthening the relationship between artists and the field, creating an ecosystem that encourages innovation, professional development, exchange, and imagination. Through tutoring sessions, networking events, residency programmes, publications, participation in major photography events across Europe, and an open call for exhibitions exclusively for FUTURES artists, the platform facilitates international exposure and engagement.

Fotogalleriet is proud to present Duy Nguyen, Signe Luksengard, Ikram Abdulkadir, and Minh Ngoc Nguyen as our selected artists for FUTURES 2026, representing the Nordic region.

The nominated artists were distinguished by the technical and conceptual rigour of their practices, and each reflect Fotogalleriet’s commitment to supporting artists who engage deeply with their communities and whose work contributes meaningfully the expanding possibilities of photography as a medium. Fotogalleriet looks forward to supporting their participation in FUTURES 2026 and to the contribution each will make to the network.

FUTURES is the only European Photography Platform funded by the European Commission, uniting a diverse network of institutions and professionals that span the entire continent. Through its members, FUTURES ensures a broad geographical reach, offering artists and industry professionals unique opportunities for collaboration, mobility, and visibility across Europe.

Since 2017, it aims to add long term value in empowering early and mid-career photographers – launching initiatives to promote their work and granting them access to an unprecedented network of professionals, markets and audiences.

Guided by the belief that art and the imagination of artists breathe life into a strong, healthy, and liveable society, FUTURES works to amplify their presence, voice, and impact in the world around us, by increasing artists’ visibility, strengthening their international network, enhancing their professional skills, promoting better working conditions, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

FUTURES aims to create a dynamic and equitable arts ecosystem where creative talent is nurtured, recognized, and sustained for the long term. Synchronously, the platform seeks to spotlight bold and innovative approaches to photography, celebrating a rich diversity of stories, encouraging emerging artists to share their most daring work, and offering fresh insights into their worldsand latest projects.
