Thomas Seelig (1964, Cologne) has been Head of the Photographic Collection at the Museum Folkwang in Essen since 2018 and has curated monographic exhibitions of various types with Marge Monko, Anastasia Mityukova, Aenne Biermann, Thomas Albdorf, Tokyo Rumando, 21.lettres.a.la. photographie@gmx.de, Soham Gupta, Timm Rautert and Tobias Zielony. He studied visual communication/photography at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, followed by a curatorial program at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. From 2003-18 he was curator/collection curator at the Fotomuseum Winterthur (from 2013-17 as its director) and was involved in developing the experimental exhibition format SITUATIONS. Exhibitions include, among others, The Ecstasy of Things (2004), Research and Invention (2007), Karaoke (2009), The Hobbyist (2017).
